GetREAL With Addiction empowers individuals to break free from addiction and equips organizations with the tools to do the same. We replace stigma with science and shame with understanding. Through cutting-edge neuroscience, we show that the brain isn't broken; it's doing exactly what it learned to do. By harnessing the power of neuroplasticity, we provide the research, tools, and support to help rewire thoughts, change emotions, and break the cycle. Whether working with individuals or partnering with treatment centers, we're committed to one goal: Freedom from addiction is fully achievable, and we're here to help build lives people don't want to escape from.

Addiction isn't a permanent condition. It's learned behavior driven by emotions the brain is trying to manage. Through neuroplasticity, new neural pathways can be built and extreme habits can be broken. This isn't theory; it's neuroscience.

Traditional methods have helped many, but there are more individuals who don't relate to AA than those who do. We exist for those who haven't found success with conventional approaches, offering an evidence-based alternative grounded in modern research.

Surface-level behavior modification through willpower rarely lasts. Sustainable transformation happens when we address the emotions, beliefs, and neural patterns underneath the behaviors. That's where we focus.
We serve multiple audiences with the same core methodology, Affective Liminal Psychology (ALP):
Individuals receive one-on-one coaching and group programs for alcohol and other extreme habits
Treatment Centers enhance their existing programs with our evidence-based methodology and staff training
Organizations & Communities access educational speaking, workshops, and training on addiction and behavior change
All our work is personalized to meet individuals where they are, while maintaining the scientific rigor and proven techniques that create lasting results.

Nikki Rigby founded GetREAL With Addiction after her own journey through addiction, traditional treatment, and ultimate transformation through ALP methodology.
After losing her father, navigating divorce, and raising two daughters alone, Nikki spiraled into addiction. Alcohol wreaked havoc on her life for years. Her defining moment came after a particularly bad episode when she realized, like the definition of insanity, that every time she put another drop of alcohol in her body, she always ended up in the same place. All her attempts to control or moderate weren't working. Something had to fundamentally change.
She joined an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) that provided valuable support. Two months in, a friend introduced her to "This Naked Mind" by Annie Grace. The book was a revelation, introducing a emotion-based approach that filled gaps she hadn't known existed. This sparked a journey through additional research including "Quit Like a Woman," "Alcohol Explained," and more, all debunking limiting beliefs through evidence and neuroscience.
The "New School Approach" offered something Nikki never imagined: freedom without cravings, shame, or guilt. Understanding the science along with getting curious about her beliefs transformed her relationship with alcohol completely.
Inspired by this transformation, Nikki became a certified This Naked Mind Affective Liminal Psychology (ALP) coach. Her unique perspective of having experienced both traditional treatment and cutting-edge methodology gives her insight into what actually works versus what leaves people struggling.
Today, Nikki brings this dual understanding to everyone she works with, whether coaching individuals, working with treatment center groups, training treatment center staff, or speaking to audiences about addiction and transformation.
Lived Experience: She's been in the struggle and found her way out. She understands both the pain and the path forward.
Real-World Knowledge: Direct exposure to traditional IOP programs and modern ALP methodology shows her exactly what's missing in conventional treatment.
Science-Backed Compassion: Every conversation combines evidence-based techniques with empathy that only comes from walking the journey yourself.
